Three-time Most Valuable Player Jokic suffers a 'devastating' knee injury.
Triple NBA MVP Nikola Jokic suffered a "heartbreaking" knee injury while the Nuggets were defeated 147-123 to the Heat.
The star player sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half during an accidental contact with teammate Spencer Jones.
His teammate came down on the footwear of the MVP, and he instantly collapsed to the court clutching his leg.
The star, that leads the NBA season in rebounds and assists, recorded a score of 21 points and eight assists in the matchup prior to suffering the setback.
Jokic will have an MRI on Tuesday to evaluate the severity of the issue.
"Immediately, Jokic realized something was wrong," commented Nuggets head coach David Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Any player that suffers an injury, that's difficult, most notably a player as talented as Jokic. We will know more tomorrow."
"We'll move on together. Clearly, currently, I'm more worried about Jokic as a person and the disappointment of going through something like that."
