The former Liverpool manager admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, after a transformative near-decade reign that included a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, has since taken on positions in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and providing guidance with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed England's top flight last season, but many fans who adore the manager would embrace the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I won't manage any other side in England. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”
Conditions for a Comeback
When asked about which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to the touchline, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; I don’t miss going to interviews four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“The locker room isn't missed per se, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, is pleasant. With many victories meaning regularly positive atmosphere around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle in my ear to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, crediting him for the tweaks which secured the championship last campaign. They've been defeated four in a row in all competitions after a summer spending spree, though he denied the idea it could be a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
He shared movingly on the loss of Diogo Jota, a player he signed while in charge, and its impact on Liverpool. The Portugal international was killed in a road accident with his brother recently.
“Can you substitute a person like him? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the squad missing him. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for his teammates too. No one within the club might employ it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Coping with it on a personal level is not easy. Overwhelming.”
