Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position after a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
