Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
