NFL Recap: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
During a defensive struggle on Sunday, the Denver Broncos clinched a close victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Defensive Performance Wins Game
Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 offensive yards during the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes remaining.
Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense
Despite their horrendous offensive display, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a potential victory. But Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.
The Jets quarterback struggled all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets finished with negative ten passing yards, the lowest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," Glenn commented after the contest.
