New England Match Best Winning Streak Since Brady Years with Triumph Over Jets
Rookie Henderson has recorded five scores during the current campaign
New England matched their longest winning run from the Brady period as they overcame division opponents the Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the New England squad claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Tom Brady's final season with the team in 2019
QB Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
The win increases the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's initial series
But the Patriots fought back in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two short rushing scores before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third period to make it 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Justin Fields threw to Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the home side sealed the victory
