Helicopter Spins Wildly into Palm Trees at Popular California Shoreline
A helicopter hovering over a crowded California coastline abruptly started spinning wildly, finally losing altitude and smashing into a cluster of palm trees as spectators observed.
Recordings uploaded on social media capture the aircraft commencing to spiral near the beach then plunging near the border of the beach, where it becomes wedged among palm groves and a set of stairs adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Update
Emergency responders said five individuals were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” following the incident on Saturday.
Three persons on the pavement were injured. Details on their injuries were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
